Prof Michael Parker, Ethox Centre, University of Oxford gives a talk in a series of seminars on privacy issues in genomic medicine, funded by the Balliol Interdisciplinary Institute and supported by the Oxford Internet Institute. He discusses the need for a balance between patient confidentiality and sharing information about patients, particularly when that data is familial and could be of benefit to the medical care of another member of the family.
