Prof William James, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Resources and Planning and Professor of Virology at the University of Oxford, discusses the future of higher education in the UK and China with Prof Youmin Xi, President of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, Suzhou, China. Prof Xi begins by explaining what he wants to achieve in higher education and how technology has positively impacted the accessibility of higher education. With this step up in technological advancement, Prof Xi hopes universities will re-shape learning and education to add value back to studying at a university, with Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, looking at testing new education models. Prof Xi goes on to express the teaching techniques they employ at XJTLU to get the most out of their students.
