Group discussion with the speakers and attendees who participated at a one day conference entitled ‘The Search for Extraterrestrial Life’. The conference outlined the chances of finding alien life on Europa & Enceladus, moons of Jupiter and Saturn respectively. The conversation enabled some of the themes of the day’s talks to be discussed in greater depth. Issues raised include the cost of launching missions to these distant worlds, and the difference between searching for alien life by looking very broadly, or having a more targeted approach.
