Prof Paul Newman, Head of the Oxford Robotics Group at the University of Oxford talks with Dr Sung Hee Kim. They discuss how the development of autonomous robots has the capacity to radically alter human lives for the better. Viewed as the next step in the evolution of tools which humans have developed over millennia, Paul stresses the extent to which autonomous robotics will be able to augment human activities. He also describes how robots have to answer and respond to three basic questions: “Where am I? What surrounds me? What should I do next?”
