He urges caution and scepticism when following a new or developing story, and suggests that we all try harder to discern the sources and validity of a news item before necessarily believing it, and certainly before helping it spread further online, especially via social media. Alan also speaks of the freedom coupled with responsibility as technological advances have given everyone the ability to publish on digital platforms.
