Dr. Giorgio Perino received his medical degree
from the University of Bologna, Italy. He completed his residency in
anatomic pathology and fellowship in surgical pathology at the Mount
Sinai Medical Center in New York. His training also includes a
fellowship in Orthopedic Pathology at the Hospital for Joint Diseases
and a fellowship in Soft Tissue Tumor Pathology at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center. He has previously worked as staff pathologist
at the Bronx Veteran Administration Hospital from 1994 to 2001.
Dr. Perino is board certified in anatomic pathology. He specializes in the histopathology of clinical and experimental orthopedic pathology. His research activities focus on the histological diagnosis of implant-associated pathologies and in particular adverse local tissue reactions to joint arthroplasty wear material, molecular characterization of synovial inflammatory disorders and animal models for implant infection, intervertebral disc degeneration, placental pathology and osteoarthritis.
