Martin Kettle, Journalist and Columnist at the Guardian talks with Prof Denis Noble from the University of Oxford. They discuss the decline of the printed media since the internet revolutionised the distribution of information, and how many modern media organisations are yet to develop a sustainable business model due to the loss of advertising revenues to online businesses such as Google and Amazon. They analyse Martin’s recent article in the Guardian about how the rest of the world views Brexit, with an explanation of why so many view the decision as calamitous for Britain. The interview ends with memories of his time spent as a student at Balliol College, University of Oxford, and how both institutions have evolved and developed in the last 50 years, including the major change of admitting women during the 1970s.
